Edges of Europe in Leiden
April 3 @ 8:15 pm – 10:00 pm
Izhar Elias – guitar, Florian Magnus Maier – steel string guitar, Oene van Geel – viola, Emilio Saura – percussion
This project is about exploring the edges of classical music and the edges of Europe. Together we follow the edges of the European map and look for the typical sounds from Spain, Italy, Malta, Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, Ukraine, Russia, Georgia and Finland. You hear Spanish, Flamenco and Arabic influences, but also Georgian and Balkan sounds. Edges of Europe is classical music with a groove, rooted in very old traditions of rich cultures on the edges of Europe.
