Omaggio à Guadagnini

musicians:
Izhar Elias solo
Description:
On this album Izhar Elias pays tribute to Guadagnini: almost all the works were performed on a historical instrument, an original guitar from 1812 made by Carlo Guadagnini (1768-1816). This unusual guitar has a very singing timbre. The difference from a modern classical guitar can be clearly heard in the Capriccio Diabolico by Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco. Compositions by the following guitar virtuosos and composers: Mauro Giuliani, Fernando Sor, Josef Kaspar Mertz and Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco. Reviews ‘Izhar Elias is a musician of outstanding ability, whose whole approach to his art displays a maturity beyond his years.’ Paul Fowles/ Classical Guitar Magazine
